Gambas al ajillo
Like a Japanese reading the Wagamana menu or an Italian eating pizza with pineapple. I have the same odd feeling every time I read "Gambas al pil pil" in a menu of a Spanish Restaurant. What is that?!
Pil pil is a Basque white sauce which c
od is the main ingredient, so making a "Pil pil" without cod is like making ketchup without tomato.
Maybe this non-sense name is referred to Prawns in garlic, an Andalusian tapas, popular in Madrid and the Mediterranean shore
