Madeleines

Magdalenas
There were from the Lorraine region in France, where a young called Madeleine sold small sponge cakes, to the pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela. They had originally a distinctive shell-like shape, symbol of this pilgrimage. Madeleines spread throughout the paths of Santiago, which explains its traditional implantation in Spain
