Empanada gallega
Empanadas are large turnovers that originated in Galicia and can be considered the first take away of the history.
It is said that even in the XII century, pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela had already heard of empanadas and asked for them by name. Since they are an easy meal for a traveler to take with them, and empanadas are filling and tasty, this makes perfect sense.
This turnover was even immortalized in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. If a hungry pilgrim eats an empanada there, it is said that the pleasure he feels will last for all eternity.
