Turrón
Turrón, or nougat is a confection, shaped into either a rectangular tablet. It is frequently consumed as a traditional Christmas dessert in Spain. Turrón may be roughly classified as Hard (the Alicante variety) and Soft (the Xixona variety)
The actual confection might have been derived from the cuisine of Iberian Muslims during the Christian reconquest of Spain, Turrón has been known at least since the 15th century in the city of Xixona (Alicante) from there it became popular in all the Spanish Empire and there are still some varieties in the Hispanic America, Italy and the Philippines
